Huddinge Remand Prison is located near Flemingsberg station and is part of the area's Justice Center, along with Södertörn District Court, the police authority, and the prosecution authority. Huddinge Remand Prison currently has 164 places divided among the reception department, restrictions department, and security department. Approximately 170 people work at the prison in various roles. It is easy to commute to the prison by train, commuter train, bus, and car. As an employee, you also have access to the prison's staff gym.

Huddinge Remand Prison also has a branch with 18 remand places located in Nacka Strand but is organizationally under the Huddinge operational area. It is a small team where staff work both day and night, and where employees have a significant responsibility for daily operations. As an employee within the operational area, placement can occur in both Huddinge and Nacka.

You will start your employment at the workplace where you will receive an introduction over three weeks. After a period of service, you will be offered a place in the mandatory basic training of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, which lasts 8 weeks. You will receive a salary throughout the training period. During the probationary period, ongoing assessments will be conducted regarding your eligibility for permanent employment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At the security remand prison in Huddinge, you will work in an environment with a strong focus on security and clear routines. Unlike prisons, where clients serve longer sentences and participate in motivational programs, work at the remand prison is more focused on maintaining order and safety during the early stages of the legal process. Many clients at the remand prison spend longer periods in isolation, with limited contact with the outside world. In the role of correctional officer at Huddinge security remand prison, you will therefore be one of the few people with whom the client has daily contact. This requires you to meet people in difficult life situations with both professionalism and compassion. You need to have a good understanding of the individual's mental well-being while being able to maintain a clear, boundary-setting approach.

As a correctional officer at the remand prison, you will participate in work with isolation-breaking measures (IBÅ) to fulfill the legal requirements for daily meaningful contact for detainees under 18 years old. The remand prison has a special IBÅ group, but the assignment is an integrated part of the correctional officer's duties. For those interested in working with children and youth, there are special opportunities at Huddinge Remand Prison.

Working as a correctional officer means contributing to a safer society and making a difference for people. You share the values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity and respect for the individual, seeing people as capable of development. The role requires flexibility between tasks, roles, and departments, responsibility, and the ability to handle both physically and mentally demanding tasks in a structured everyday life.
